An update and the Shoe Showy Meme

This is a post made up of lots of different bits. Firstly, the vomiting bug has hit. There I was on Friday evening enjoying Nickie from Typecast's 'Name that Tune' game on twitter (she's @nickie72 if you want join in, and I suggest you do only don't be better than me at it). And suddenly the sicknesss started. Then we were going between bedrooms throughout the night dealing with two upset boys and changing pyjamas and bedsheets most of the night. At times like that I'm pleased to have hung onto old bedsheets, you never know when they'll come in useful.

And all day yesterday the sickness continued. We were in a strange twilight world where 12 weeks of broken nights and being trapped in a house with ill children leaves you feeling out of touch with reality. At one point I was shouting for husband to put the potty under Podge's mouth while I held an old cloth under Fington's mouth. Hideous. Nothing ever prepares you for these parts of parenthood does it? Oh, and there's the baby needing attention and feeds every two hours. Bless her. I'm praying she doesn't get this bug too.

Moving on and I realise I didn't do an update on the dinosaur outfit for World Book Day the other week. Luckily as I started making it, Podge decided he wanted to be Wibbly Pig. So I ended up making a pig outfit and together we made his nose. Sadly the outfit didn't last the day at pre-school (well it was made in a hurry) and now needs repairs.

What else has happened? Husband's bike got vandalised at the train station last week. £100 for repairs. One of the cats had his paw bitten in a fight. £50 in vets fees. Argh! We have a large tax bill to pay so I'm currently looking into how I can be a WAHM rather than a SAHM. Not easy. The health visitor rang me, probably because I haven't taken Little Girl to the clinic yet. To be honest, it's too much stress after the last appointment where she had me worried about Little Girl's hearing (which turned out to be fine). And I know Little Girl is growing and doesn't need weighing because she's moving into 3-6 months size clothes which is an emotional time. She's growing up! Sob.

I've been tagged by the lovely Yummy Mummy No 1 with the Shoe Showy Meme. This requires me to show you a pair of shoes which I own. This past winter I've been living in my boots from Nine West. But recently I bought these shoes from New Look. They're my 'post-baby yummy mummy shoes' which I had to run in for my nephew's christening. I don't wear them very often but they're good for not very warm but not freezing weather.

I love New Look shoes by the way, they always fit me and they're comfortable. Even though New Look has a reputation for being a bit crap. I have size 8 feet so it's not always easy to find the right shoes. And, unusually for New Look, these ones are leather. Do you like the way I put my blog in the background in this picture? And a quick disclaimer on that horrible wallpaper and border on the wall. Yes it dates from 1985 and we haven't got round to decorating the room yet. Decorating. How can we ever find the time?

Now I need to tag some people with the Shoe Showy Meme. Here goes:

Show us your shoes ladies!

  3. Eek!! What a week you've had. I sincerely hope it wasn't my quiz or my inane ramblings that has induced the sickness ;-)

Here's hoping you have a bit of a better week this week.

Happy mothers day, lovely lady x
